It's amazing to me how the smallest words, the simple act of acknowledgment, how such a seemingly innocuous act such as sending a text, can be such an encouragement. I received an encouragement yesterday evening, it was a nice way to close 2010.
I started 2011 by standing in line at REI, the used gear sale is one of the craziest, pushiest, most intense situations that I voluntarily put myself in, but it always yields a treasure. Today I got my Keen boots, the same boots from my lust list, but I only paid $39.98, oh how I love getting a deal!
To followup my beautiful boot purchase, I had lunch with a woman I very much look up to. Something I enjoy so much about being able to visit with her, is being able to see the results of her experiences. Being several years ahead of me in her career in fashion, she displays the results of hard work and sacrifice which are in front of me if I should choose to follow the same path. She and I are different people, we come from very different backgrounds, but I see characteristics in her which I believe we share. She makes me feel like like I can be a success.
I'm going to be babysitting my six month old niece this evening, I'm excited. Holding and caring for my two little nieces, makes me wonder how intensely a parent feels about their own child. I love my nieces so much, I hope someday I'll get to experience loving my own child.
